CCHRA September Breakfast Meeting
Title: But I Have A Doctor’s Note For That! How Medical Marijuana Is Changing The Workplace
Speaker: Brandon Dorfman
This presentation will explore the quick pace of medical marijuana legalization, and how it’s spreading across the country, including the prolific rise in the medical marijuana job market. Then it will look at how medical marijuana use is changing the workplace through an examination of Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana law, which went into effect recently, as well as New Jersey’s proposed cannabis laws.
Topics discussed will include job hiring (and firing) of potential and current employees who legally use medical marijuana, the ways in which the health insurance industry is adapting to the new laws, and the rise of cannabidiol, or CBD, a hemp derivative easily bought online that is both gaining in popularity and falls into a legal grey area.
